We Are Human Animals

We’ve been domesticated. And now we’ve been isolated and caged. What happens to a caged animal?

It may relentlessly and continuously pace its cage. It may turn that restlessness inward, chew or harm itself. It may lay down and give up, as if sedated.

In times like these, like any caged animal, we may also toggle between restlessness and resignation.

Anxiety and lethargy. Hope and despair. Action and procrastination.

We have a third option outside of these two extremes. Clarity, connectedness, and conscious awareness.

This third way is possible because we are human animals. It is our gift. Our conscious awareness means that we can learn by observing animal behavior: it offers us essential information about how to move through survival challenges and difficulty unscathed.

Learning this third way is what will make us the powerful Jaguar leaders of our families and our communities as we undertake the task at hand of building new culture.

“Relaxing” and “calming down” are not straightforward.

What should feel relaxing might be aggravating. What used to feel energizing might be exhausting. And we don’t have access to many of our creature comforts that we would usually rely on. (I want a long hug!)

What we do have is a remarkable and innate somatic genius that can be accessed for this crisis that we find ourselves in now.

We can come out of this intact- more whole, fortified with glimpses and a felt sense recognition of what life wants from us– which includes the possibility of death.

We can remember our way into a deeper layer of organization, coherence, and awareness, which is built into our anatomy and physiology.

Activate Your Predator Energy

The biggest leap in my own sexual healing journey came when I learned to activate predator energy. When I started Somatic Experiencing training 10 years ago, I was terrified of the word “predator,” and never would have imagined that this would be the missing link to most of the work I do with women, whether helping them heal from birth trauma, gynecological problems or sexual boundary ruptures.

Predator energy isn’t about becoming an “alpha” female- that’s an overcompensation.
Predator energy is the activation of self-protective responses.

Could a jaguar survive if she couldn’t bear her teeth to protect her young from predators or the food of her young?

Could a jaguar survive if she could not hunt? No.

When our predator energy is available in our nervous system (healthy fight), we are able to also to fully relax (parasympathetic in safety)

That same jaguar lays on trees, licks her cubs, teaches them to hunt, and plays with them.

Jaguar Sessions are an opportunity to go deep into the concepts from Activate Your Inner Jaguar and are best way to understand somatic work is to see it and feel it in action. You’ll see Kimberly coach someone live, on a topic like birth trauma, sexual trauma, or preparation for birth. There will be 4 opportunities to observe Jaguar Sessions during the course.

Yes. This course was designed to give you a felt experience of power in your body, and for you to learn the ways that your body might be saying “no,” while your mouth is saying “yes.” This course is about owning your power, in a real way that translates to real-life boundary-setting in your relationships.

You’ll learn why boundaries aren’t a bad thing—they come from deep, internal experience, and allow you to live your life in a way that feels congruent in your mind, body, spirit, and soul.

No problem at all. We’ve had hundreds of women take this course, and very few were able to come to each live webinar (and some couldn’t attend any live, because of work and other commitments). The videos in this course are meant to be watched sometime during the week—you’ll get a replay of each video within 24 hours of the live call. You’ll receive information and experiential exercises in each video that you can work with all week. 

The classes will be 75-90 minutes long, and we’ll give you some experiential exercises and meditations to incorporate into your daily life during the week. All-in-all you’ll be spending about two hours on course material per week (plus whatever you fold into your daily interactions).
