Activate Your Inner Jaguar: Somatic Healing through Movement

Starts Tuesday JuLY 12th at 11 am PST | 2 pm est

A 6 Week COURSE with Kimberly Ann Johnson and Guest presenters

⭐ Are you exhausted, overwhelmed or burned out?

⭐ Do you question yourself more often than is helpful?

⭐ Is it easier for you to understand someone else’s point of view than stand for your own?

⭐ Do you want to have the capacity and stamina to build a new future?

Activating Your Inner Jaguar is about standing up and speaking out.

Caring less about being nice and caring more about what you need.

It’s about claiming your space and holding your ground.

Learning to stay in your body, even when things get intense, loving yourself when you can’t, and having a bunch of tools to find your way back.

Jaguar energy is fierce and decisive, and it may be the missing piece of your healing journey.

Activating Your Inner Jaguar is about claiming your space, owning your voice and expanding your capacity for true power.

Jaguar energy is fierce and decisive, and it may be the missing piece of your healing journey.

We are in the midst of collective MOVEMENT.

Together we will MOVE.

In this class you will:

  • Understand your own nervous system in real time and in your own body
  • Have space to grieve
  • Learn how to accurately read the signals your body is giving you and know what direction to move to from there
  • Practice many ways of returning to center
  • Grasp boundaries in a direct and palpable way so that she can express your needs and wants clearly
  • Move stagnant energy so you can feel more like yourself
  • Learn how to stop projecting your anxiety outwards and learn to metabolize it, so you can communicate from your deepest truth, and be heard
  • Practice surfing big waves of emotions and sensations so that you feel like you feel like you’re the surfer and not being tossed around in the stormy ocean
  • Bridge the gap between the rights you know you have and an ability to advocate for yourself in the present moment

This course is for HUMANS-- lovers, parents, birth-workers, bodyworkers, therapists, and people who want to become more animal, more human and more humane.

Activate Your Inner Jaguar is for you if:

  • you feel that your empathy is more of a hindrance than a help
  • there is a disconnect between what you want in life, and what you’re getting
  • You’re trying to figure out who you are or what’s yours to do in the midst of all this change
  • have chronic yeast infections, BV, or pain during sex
  • You recoil from conflict or never feel there’s a good outcome from it
  • You have difficulty figuring out what you need or want, let alone asking for it
  • You feel exhausted, depleted and tired of trying to do the right thing with little results
  • You’ve never really recovered from a birth or loss experience
  • You shut down around sex (low desire or pleasure), or a proclivity to end up in experiences you’re not sure you wanted

Watch The Replay: Grief & The Nervous System

How is this class different from other Jaguar offerings?

⭐ Tuesdays at 11 am PDT | 2 pm EDT are the foundational Activate Your Inner Jaguar foundational work- the anchor classes.

⭐ Weekly Movement Class Fridays at 11 am PDT | 2 pm EDT. This class will have a weekly movement class led by somatic teachers in forms such as Tantric Dance, Authentic Movement, The Class, and Q’oya. You will get a chance to get a sweat on, as well as many examples of somatic movement and inspiration.

⭐ Jaguar: Movement Edition is a 6-week class based on the original Activate Your Inner Jaguar from Call of the Wild with weekly movement and dance experiences to support the integration of the nervous system work as well as to offer you many doorways back to yourself.

Many people- dance teachers, physical therapists, musicians, personal trainers and artists- often ask me if they should do trauma training. I usually tell them that I love Somatic Experiencing training, AND many of them are already doing trauma work in thier teaching by getting people to feel and move and be in their bodies.

Before there was explicit “trauma” or “somatic work,” there was singing and dancing. There was moving together. There were rites of passage. There were ways of marking times and seasons of life.

Now we can use the tools of somatics with the remembering of what it is to move and be led together.

I am inviting you to my happy place.

In these complicated times, we must find ways to connect to our aliveness. We don’t avoid or bypass the gravity or urgency of the times. We expand our range and remember to laugh, sing, and dance while we circle and grieve and create.

Before I worked with women + trauma, I was a full-time yoga teacher and bodyworker.

Before I was a yoga teacher, I was a dancer. Highlights of my dance career included performing at the Kennedy Center with Jump Rhythm Dance Center, being a part of the Nike team in Chicago, + a short-lived gig with the WuTangClan (long story).

People used to tell me they didn’t see me as a Gemini until they saw me on the dance floor and then they understood.

You don’t have to love to dance to join this class, though.  If you do, come on, then!

It’s not about jazz hands; it’s an inside experience. You don’t even have to turn your camera on, but it’s fun when you do.

There are a lot of books where you can learn about the principles of the nervous system and trauma. There are fewer places where you can learn through direct experience, transmission and oral tradition.

That is the invitation of Jaguar.

I invite guest teachers who all have their way into nervous system regulation and wholeness.

This gives you versions of what resilience can look and feel like.

Zina Zinchenko is coming in to teach Gaga in the Jaguar course. She taught us two years ago in Jaguar in the Q, then had a baby. She danced with Batsheva for several years and has been teaching Gaga and making films - she's in the Netflix series on Ohad Naharin.

She's really a master- I was able to take class in person with her when I was living in New York- shortlived but memorable.

Weena will be leading us through an Authentic Movement class.

Weena Pauly-Tarr has been working and playing in the worlds of dance, movement training and somatic therapy for the last 22 years. Along with being trained in Pilates, Yoga, sports training, meditation and mindfulness, she was lucky enough to experience touring the world as a professional dancer. Early on Weena wanted a more comprehensive dive into the wisdom that movement and bodies possessed. It was when her physical experience was invited into the therapeutic process that her path became clarified. In 2007, Weena became a C-IAYT Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner and opened her private practice called ReConnect. Her dancing and performing began to reorient towards using dance and movement not only to express but to explore how we can become more whole and liberated human bodies.

Marina of the bent & the straight will be leading us in The Class.

For Marina, the human body and its incalculable capacity to heal, adapt, fail, succeed and rise up again and again is sacrosanct. She was first part of The Class team during its beginnings and after a sabbatical, is back to share herself with this community again. Via movement, she believes every person has the ability to be curious about feeling, creating, shaping, and exploring how to live and breathe well inside the body. Marina wants her students to feel appreciated, understood, listened to and heard. Inspired by the anatomy and beauty of the human form, her classes are aimed for you to feel both redeemed and yourself all at once.

Rochelle Schieck loves to move - in her body and around the world. In the last 20 years, she has traveled around the world as a student and teacher leading over 4,000 movement classes, training hundreds of Qoya teachers in 20 different countries, and taking women on over 70 retreats to sacred places in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Her passion to explore the emerging essence of the feminine in her own life and in movement, coupled with her experience as a personal trainer, certified massage therapist, shamanic energy healer, and her degree in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts have all influenced her creation of the movement system, Qoya.

Spirited and energetic, Bernadette Pleasant is a fiery and sensual speaker, somatic healer, Founder of The Emotional Institute and Creator of Femme!, a mind-body wellness program, and 400 Years, a somatic-based anti-racism program. She is known for channeling her personal journeys and radical empathy into transformative, immersive experiences that support and celebrate people of all genders, colors, ages and sizes. She has transformed the lives of thousands of people around the world, inspiring them to become more self-expressed and empowered as their own badass selves.

The goal of my work is twofold: to hold a deeply grounded, honest space for the people who get on my table to know and feel that they are whole, that are absolutely capable of transformation, and that they have total authority over their own experience - and then to meet them with the skill, subtlety, intuition, and courage to accurately read and explore with them the places in their bodies where they are asking for help.
