The Three Stages of Transformation: Emerging from Crisis
Art, Activism & Motherhood
with Guest Presenter Deborah Quibell, PhD Thursday July 15th at 10:00 am PST | 1:00 pm EST
We are at the threshold of yet another major transformation, emerging from the pandemic.
Almost everyone is in transition, if not outright existential crisis.
Depth psychology’s emphasis on alchemy offers a path to understanding and traversing the painful and revelatory phases of transformation.
We will discuss the three phases of alchemy- nigredo, albedo and rubedo– diving into each stage as it relates to motherhood, creativity and activism.
Most of us are familiar with the dark night of the soul- the nigredo– even if we may not have been given many tools in how to traverse one. But what do we do when we emerge out of the darkness, different than we were before– remade?

We often stop after the first two stages of transformation, And we miss the third
When we don’t get to the third, we get stuck and overwhelmed. We might feel ungrounded or disillusioned. The suffering isn’t as intense but the answer of what’s next or how to move on from it isn’t clear.
How do we ask the right questions after periods of suffering and relief to move us?
Wisdom and power come from breathing this transformation into our life- It is often breathed in through creative work.
